It’s no secret that we all need to do our parts to help the environment.
Sometimes we forget that our habits are quickly picked up by children who watch our every move.
We can easily just tell them to recycle or reuse things, but it’s better for everyone if we all understand why being green is important and how it can be easy and fun.
With that in mind, we have entered the back to school shopping season and it’s time to green up that routine as well.
For practical tips and statistics on how to go green for back to school, check out the “How to Go Green: Back to School Guide” on the Planet Green website. It’s one of their newest guides and I’m sure it will be helpful no matter what grade level you’re preparing for.

Wondering how to encourage your child to read at an early age?
A study released by Ohio State University and Teachers College, Columbia University suggest that kids who live in homes where kids are exposed to set mealtimes and bedtime, clear chore assignments, a family calendar, and keeping the TV off during dinner, can encourage early reading ability.
According to the Teachers College website, “The “study suggests household order, though not your home’s noise, is associated with early reading, though only where mom is an above-average reader,” reports Paul Nyhan.”
